Life saving skills. Improve the health of our community. Be a life saver.
Hands-On Ridgefield aims to improve the health of the Ridgefield community by making life saving skills easily available to anyone wanting to learn them. We are a high school student-led, not-for-profit organization. Our supporters include the Ridgefield Fire Department which provides the space and equipment for our programs, and Ridgefield health care professionals who volunteer their time in our program development.
Ridgefield is fortunate to be a HeartSafe community where we have AEDs throughout town for good samaritans to use in the event of an emergency. And with many of these AEDs , we will soon have Stop the Bleed kits accessible for use in the event of life threatening bleeding.
Commit to becoming a life saver. Gain the confidence and the skills to act in an emergency while waiting for EMS to arrive. Know where and how to use emergency equipment available throughout Ridgefield, so as a bystander to a life threatening emergency, you can act. Minutes count in a life threatening emergency!
The students at Hands-On Ridgefield hope every Ridgefielder will consider becoming a life saver. We are here to support you in gaining the confidence and skills to be one. Let’s create a life saving community in Ridgefield together.

We're a team of high school students with a mission to improve the health of our community. We make learning life saving skills accessible to anyone interested in learning them.
Bystanders can be life savers - let us help you gain the skills and the confidence to act in an emergency.
-
We use visual aids like slides and videos to present the information, and then, give you the opportunity to practice the skills. For example, in a Hands-Only CPR and AED Use session, you have the opportunity during a video presentation from the American Heart Association to practice the skills with manikins and an AED simulator.
-
All of our sessions are held at the Ridgefield Fire Department. Chief Duckworth works with us to supply the space and equipment like manikins and Stop the Bleed materials. The Ridgefield Fire Department is providing Narcan kits to recent high school graduates who come to our session about using it to save the life of someone who is overdosing or accidentally poisoned.
Hands-On Ridgefield is a Stop the Bleed Ambassador. Dr. Sherry makes it possible to present this program to the public by leading our sessions as a Stop the Bleed Certified Instructor.
-
Hands-On Ridgefield is now a Stop the Bleed Ambassador! We are honored to have neuroradiologist and certified Stop the Bleed instructor, Dr. Steven J. Sherry of Aegis Defense Concepts, LLC., to provide instruction.
Come to Hands-On Ridgefield to learn the lifesaving skills to help someone with traumatic bleeding.

Everyone should have the knowledge and skills to help a victim of an overdose/accidental poisoning with Narcan. Hands-On Ridgefield is holding a session to empower you with the skills and confidence to act - receive your free Narcan kit from the Ridgefield Fire Department when you attend.
-
By coming to a session to learn to perform hands-only CPR and use an AED, you will have the knowledge and skills to act in the event that you are a bystander to a sudden cardiac arrest. These sessions are held monthly. Feel free to register again for a session to practice your skills and maintain your confidence in performing them.
